Reedy Creek is where Leading Senior Constable Thomas Bradford, a.k.a Tom, helps rescue three stranded boys in The House on Wattle Street. We came across Mannum Falls in South Australia while on holiday, and I knew I had to have a helicopter rescue involving Tom. When researching how such an event might unfold, I was astounded to discover that a family had indeed been airlifted by a chopper when stranded on the rocks during a flash flood! I adore this rugged countryside and so does Tom. Here is how he sees the surroundings: ‘As he drew closer, the landscape changed and granite boulders appeared as if discarded by giants throwing stones. The twisted shapes always reminded Tom of colossal rock creatures. Their number increased until the ground was littered with great, gnarled clumps of craggy debris, seemingly shed by a horde of humongous monsters.’
